Chestnut School will randomly award 40 scholarships for the Herbal Medicine Making Course in 2025. This initiative aligns with our mission to promote inclusion and equity in the fields of herbal medicine and herb cultivation. We kindly ask that only those with financial need apply.

Our past scholarship participants have primarily included folks who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Plus). Participants also include folks with disabilities, immigrants, refugees, and veterans. Folks who have experienced economic and societal hardships throughout their life are welcome to apply, as well as individuals who have complex trauma.

We also encourage people to apply if their work (or volunteer time) involves herbal healing and gardening in communities organizing for collective liberation. Past scholarship participants in this category include organizers, non-profit workers, and volunteers engaged in free herbal clinics, urban community gardens, and school, prison, refugee, and immigrant herb gardens.
